Since its founding in 1990, the Kruse Duo (Penny Thompson Kruse, Violin and Steven Kruse, Viola ) has gained a reputation as an exciting chamber ensemble, exploring the rich literature and sonoric possibilites for violin and viola. The Kruse Duo has appeared as soloists with numerous orchestras in the United States, Vietnam, and Romania. They have also performed at various state, national, and international professional conventions, including the International Viola Congress, the American String Teachers Association, and the College Music Society. They have been invited to perform at the 37th International Viola Congress at the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa, in July 2009.

With selections from Mozart to Martinu, their repertoire spans a wide range of musical styles. Performing on matching instruments made by the famed Carl Becker family of Chicago, the Kruses are known for their unique blend and oneness of musical expression. As educators, Steven and Penny Kruse work to make their performances particularly relevant for developing string students.

The Kruse Duo is available for orchestral performances, recitals, master classes, string clinics, and coachings.
